The NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements are statements that identify benchmarks and performance indicators of the knowledge and skills language learners have at various levels of language proficiency and in the Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational modes of communication; and intercultural communication. Can do Statements can help students
- identify the skills and knowledge they have in the language(s) they speak or are learning
- set language targets on the skills they want to learn on a specific language
- track progress towards set language learning goals
Teachers can use the Can Do Statements to:
- set learning goals in their units and lessons for groups of students or individual students
- help design assessments for specific skills
- create performance-based activities in the classroom
